Not sleeping forever.?

Okay i have a friend (jovan)

And he is trying to stay up for 3 weeks.

Is that okay.

He asked me to stay up with him tomorrow night. Will it hurt me?

Is it hurting him staying up that long, (he has already stayed up for about 6 days)

Is it okay

What are the pros

And cons of it?
Not sleeping forever.?
pros- absolutely none, i dont see why you would want to do that? cons- you would be so zombie like you couldnt hardly function or carry out normal activities.

why stay up?????? why?????

thats so pointless.
Not sleeping forever.?
I read an article about a guy who forced himself to stay awake for 14 days straight, and besides having diminished mental functions his health was fine. When he feel asleep for the first time he only slept for 7 hours and was fine when he awoke.
Reply:there%26#039;s no way he will be able to stay up 3 weeks without sleeping..... he%26#039;s body will give out... He has to be getting some cat naps now being up for 6 days.... if he%26#039;s driving he will kill someone..
Reply:It will make you tired and not function as well and you probably won%26#039;t be able to do it.
Reply:whoa 3 weeks is BAD

but a night shouldnt hurt
Reply:3 weeks is bad, but for you a night will be fine. You should tell him to stop, even if he isn%26#039;t tired (which wouldn%26#039;t be highly likely) Or, get him to sit down and watch a few movies with you. Secretly put some lavender oil on the couch so he falls asleep. This way, it%26#039;s better for him and youre saving him the trouble of something more harmful.
Reply:4 nights at most id stay awake, it shouldnt hurt.. but staying up for 3 weeks is pointless and NOT good AT ALL for your health. ive known truck drivers who have died from lack of sleep. not because they fell asleep at the wheel and crashed, but because theyre body just gave out on them. if humans didn%26#039;t need to sleep, we wouldn%26#039;t. he might also get really depressed. haha
Reply:well unfortunately for him, if he%26#039;s trying to break the world record, he won%26#039;t unless he%26#039;s being monitored by doctors/scientists.

Some hours he may be really tired but he should have heightened awareness and all of it, some people are only assuming on the hours extra they%26#039;ve stayed up not doing any research of their own. It shouldn%26#039;t hurt you, I%26#039;ve done it many times.. most I%26#039;ve gotten is to 28 hours, but see there%26#039;s a hump you have to cross before you%26#039;re not tired and you have to keep your mind active and focused.
Reply:I suppose the pros would be that he%26#039;d get to finish reading War and Peace by the end of the week.

The cons on the other hand, as most people have already said is that it can cause mental impairment. Sleep deprivation affects memory, can affect your immune system and metabolism.

Some people have actually been known to die of sleep deprivation (over 5-7 days) mainly because of the effect on the immune system. If your friend is trying to prove a point, it is certainly not worth it.
